Quick facts
- Players
- 2–8
- Target
- 15 points by default
- You need
- One host phone; add the printed deck and 3 tokens each for Physical Cards
- Core skill
- Relative chronology—not exact years
CHOOSE AT SETUP
Two ways to play. One phone in charge.
Both modes happen together in the same room. The host phone plays the music and records Mobile and app-scored games; extra phones are optional viewer screens.
Physical Cards · Rules v0.1
- Use the printed song deck. Each player’s cards form a visible timeline on the table.
- Draw and scan each QR, then pass the host phone or gather around it.
- Physical setup, Challenge Tokens, knowledge bets, Sabka Daur and the 15-point target stay unchanged.
Mobile · Playable now
- No printed deck is needed. The same host phone draws from a built-in deck of more than 1,200 songs.
- The current library is primarily Hindi, with Punjabi, Telugu, Malayalam and further languages planned step by step.
- Every timeline is on screen, and the app judges whether the selected gap is correct.
Goal
Build your personal timeline—on the table or on screen—and earn points in four ways:
- Correct chronological placement
- Optional music-knowledge bets
- Successful challenges
- Surprise rounds involving the whole group
Setup
- On the host phone, choose Physical Cards or Mobile.
- For Physical Cards, give every player three physical Challenge Tokens.
- For Physical Cards, each player draws, scans and reveals one starting card. Place it face-up as the first anchor in that player’s timeline; it gives no points.
- For Physical Cards, choose App Scoring and enter names or nicknames, turn order and the target score—or choose Paper Scoring and track points externally.
- For Physical Cards, choose the first player and keep the printed deck, shared discard/archive pile and phone within reach.
Mobile setup
- For Mobile, add the players, choose the turn order and keep the host phone within reach.
- The app provides the 1,200+ song deck, every player’s timeline and automatic gap judging.
- A guest session is enough. Signing in is optional.
PHYSICAL CARDS · RULES v0.1
A Physical-card turn
The active player owns the placement and gets First Call before anyone else may answer.
Draw and scan
Draw a physical card and scan its QR side. Keep the information side hidden.
Listen
The app plays the song without revealing its title, artist, source or release year.
Place physically
Place the card QR-side up before, after or between cards in your own physical timeline, then lock the gap.
First Call
Before anyone else answers, make up to two optional knowledge bets—or pass with no penalty.
Challenge window
Each opponent may take at most one action: a timeline challenge, a knowledge claim or a knowledge counter.
Reveal and flip
The app reveals the answer and the active player flips the physical card to its information side.
Score
Correctly placed cards stay in that player’s timeline. Incorrectly placed cards go to the shared discard/archive pile.
Physical timeline placement
- A correct active-player placement scores +2.
- An incorrect mandatory placement scores 0—never a negative penalty.
- Songs with the same official release year may appear in either order.
- You place by relative chronology. Knowing the exact release year is not required.
MOBILE · NO PRINTED DECK
A Mobile turn
The host phone supplies the card, keeps the timelines and judges the gap. The room still listens and decides together.
Draw on the host phone
The app draws the next song from the built-in 1,200+ song Mobile deck.
Listen
The song plays while its title, artist, source and release year remain hidden.
Choose an onscreen gap
The active player places the song before, after or between entries in their onscreen timeline.
Make First Call
The active player may make up to two optional knowledge bets—or pass safely.
Open digital challenges
Other players may challenge by selecting a different gap before the result is resolved.
Judge and score
The app checks the gaps, reveals the song and records the one winning result—or no winner.
Mobile placement and result
- A correct active-player gap wins the turn, and every challenge loses.
- If the active gap is wrong, one challenger with the correct alternative gap may win.
- Only one result can win: the active player, one challenger or nobody.
- The exact release year is still optional knowledge; placement only needs the correct relative gap.
OPTIONAL RISK · REAL CONSEQUENCES
Knowledge bets
The active player may select up to two categories during First Call. Passing has no penalty.
- For the same song, choose only one date level: decade, five-year range or exact year. Date values cannot be stacked.
- For a collaboration, declare either one main artist for +2 or the complete main duet/collaboration for +4.
- A partial answer to a declared full-collaboration bet is incorrect.
| Play or category | Correct | Wrong | Rule note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Timeline placement | +2Correct | 0Wrong | Mandatory placement attempt; no negative score. |
| Decade | +1Correct | −1Wrong | Optional date bet. |
| Five-year release range | +2Correct | −1Wrong | Optional date bet. |
| Exact release year | +3Correct | −1Wrong | Optional high-risk bonus—not needed for placement. |
| Song title | +2Correct | −1Wrong | Optional knowledge bet. |
| One main artist | +2Correct | −1Wrong | Declare this instead of the full collaboration. |
| Complete main duet / collaboration | +4Correct | −1Wrong | A partial answer is wrong when the full credit is declared. |
| Movie, album or original release name | +2Correct | −1Wrong | Use the recognised source for that song. |
| Composer / music director | +3Correct | −1Wrong | Optional knowledge bet. |
| Physical timeline challenge | +2Correct | −1Wrong | Spend a token; it returns if correct and is lost if wrong. |
Physical-card challenges · Rules v0.1
Timeline challenge
- Spend one physical Challenge Token and point to a specific alternative gap. Saying only “that is wrong” is not valid.
- A correct challenge scores +2 and the token is returned.
- An incorrect challenge scores −1 and the token is lost for the rest of the game.
Knowledge claim or counter
An opponent may use their one challenge-window action to claim a category the active player did not attempt, or counter one attempted answer with a different answer.
- Only one opponent may claim or counter the same category; the first valid declaration has priority.
- A correct challenge earns that category’s normal positive value. An incorrect challenge scores −1.
- Knowledge challenges do not consume physical Challenge Tokens in v0.1.
- The active player and challenger are scored independently. If both answers are wrong, both score −1.
Mobile-only digital challenge
After the active player selects a gap, other players may challenge with a different gap on screen.
- Only one result can win the turn: the active player, one challenger or nobody.
- If the active player’s gap is correct, every challenge loses.
- If the active gap is wrong, a challenger can win only by selecting the correct alternative gap.
- This digital rule does not replace the Physical-card Challenge Token rules above.
ONE GAME · ONE ROOM
The host phone runs it. Extra screens may watch.
Extra phones are optional and do not create a separate game. They are same-room windows into the game already running on the host phone.
Join the Room View
- Scan the room QR or type the short code shown by the host.
- Watch the scoreboard and the current player’s timeline, which makes challenges easier to see.
- Viewer phones cannot place cards, resolve results, score turns or control the game.
- Guest access is enough; no account is required to watch.
Accounts stay optional
- Play and watch as a guest without creating an account.
- Sign in with Google, email or phone if you want your name and finished games to follow you to another phone.
- Account sign-in does not turn the game into online or remote multiplayer.
THE APP CHANGES THE TEMPO
Surprise round: Sabka Daur
Sabka Daur is an app-triggered surprise round in which everybody must play. It is unpredictable and never occurs twice consecutively.
Round flow
The player whose normal turn is next draws and scans one physical card.
That player listens and places it in their own physical timeline: +2 if correct, 0 if incorrect.
The app assigns every player exactly one suitable question about the same song.
Player order and question-category order are shuffled each time.
Everybody gets 10–15 seconds of silent thinking time—no discussion or shouted answers.
The app calls players one by one in shuffled order; each answer is locked.
No answer is confirmed until everybody has answered.
The app reveals all information and the physical card is flipped.
Correct answers earn the displayed category value. Wrong or missing answers score −1.
Normal turn order resumes with the player after the Sabka Daur card owner.
Question levels
| Level | Score | Possible questions |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | +1 / −1 | Decade; language; film song, album track, independent single or another release type; original, remix or remake; solo or collaboration |
| Medium | +2 / −1 | Song title; main artist; movie, album or release name; one artist from a collaboration |
| Difficult | +3 / −1 | Composer or music director; featured artist; another valid song by the same artist or from the same release |
MOBILE COUNTS · PHYSICAL GIVES YOU A CHOICE
Scorekeeping by play mode
Mobile records the complete game on the host phone. Physical Cards keeps the existing choice between app and paper scoring.
Mobile · App Scoring
- Keep every player’s timeline, turn and score on the host phone.
- Judge placements and digital challenges in the app.
- Show the same score and active timeline on optional Room View screens.
Physical · App Scoring
- Collect names or nicknames, turn order and target score.
- Highlight the active player, or the current answerer during Sabka Daur.
- After reveal, let the host mark placements, bets and challenges correct or incorrect.
- Show itemised +2 and −1 changes before committing them.
- Update scores, negative totals, turns, the equal-turn ending and winner automatically.
- Allow correction or undo of the immediately previous scoring action.
Physical · Paper Scoring
- Do not require player names or scores.
- Keep managing scans, playback, phases, timers, Sabka Daur assignments and reveals.
- Show a compact, non-blocking scoring reminder instead of a full scoreboard.
- Keep scoring UI clear of the main gameplay controls.
SAME TURNS. HIGHEST SCORE.
Ending the game
- The default target is 15 points, but the group may choose a different target at setup.
- When someone reaches the target, finish the current round so all players have had the same number of normal turns.
- The player with the highest score then wins. Negative final scores are allowed.
Keep the table fair
- Give the active player First Call before rivals declare anything.
- During the challenge window, each opponent gets at most one action.
- A timeline challenge must name one specific alternative gap.
- Keep Sabka Daur thinking time silent and lock answers in the app’s order.
- Wait for the reveal before debating the official answer or release metadata.
